Vacation’s Over :(

One month of vacation. And it still felt too short. Too many things going on…so time swept by too quickly.

For one…I seemed to have developed very clumsy fingers when it comes to typing…since I haven’t typed in a month. I went home with only my iPad…@_@ And I didn’t even have internet at home, so my online time was limited to about 1-2 hours…a day…when I decided to head over to Starbucks and spend more money than I should for coffee…every. single. day.

Got to hang out with some friends in San Diego for a week, which was pretty exciting. It felt great to be back!

Then shortly after going home in the Bay, Daxin arrived from Beijing to attend a conference! Ended up driving out to San Francisco several times…despite telling myself I would never do so again in my life. It was a fun experience having him teach me how to parallel park. During that time, we also met up with Julie a ton! Very fun times. Daxin even got to do his shirtless jog down Fisherman’s Wharf.

Graduation season came right after he left, so I put on my Mexican hat and ended up selling bouquets and leis on the street. Got so tanned that I look like a completely different person now. Made quite a bit of money the first day, and afterwards, it was just a lot of competition and not very much demand. Sigh, poor school districts.

Finally ate some buffalo meat too. I think I was the only one that could tell the difference. But then again, I devour meat faster than a T-rex. It was delicious though, and I can’t wait to eat Ostrich when Amy gets back to Bawston.

Also got to watch a movie with my mom! :) She really missed going out once a week with the family when my dad was still alive, so we got to relive some of those memories. We also tried out Sam’s Burgers, which my dad had wanted to try since we moved to San Lorenzo…about 13 years ago…but never did.

Then my last full day in California. I finally met up with most of the family. It’s a tad amusing that no one has any clue where I’m at. One cousin assumes I’m in Canada. One of my aunts think I’m just in Los Angeles, while another thinks I’m just living in Berkeley. My uncle knows I live somewhere where I have to fly to. Then another one of my aunts just thinks I left the country and that’s why my Mandarin got so good. Because no one can figure out where I’m actually at, they are all so antsy, but surprised that I can live out on my own without any financial support from my mom…despite not making very much yet. >.>

Not every vacation is perfect though.

I ended up losing a friend due to miscommunication. Not that it was even miscommunication. Though, this loss was bound to happen. She had sent me a text asking me to go to her birthday party at 6pm on the day I had planned to drive down to Stanford to meet up with a friend. So I texted her back telling her that I’d call her if I got back in time. I ended up not going to Stanford, partly because my friend was busy for half the day, and partly because my memory of Stanford from 8 years ago still haunts me. I call her back around 5 to tell her I could make it. And she never called back or texted. -_-?

Then I had a sort of falling out with another friend, but in a totally different respect. Sometimes I feel like an asshole for “friend-zoning” a guy, but sorry guys! It happens. -_- Especially when they have no drive to do anything with their life but mooch off me. I think I ranted about this guy to enough people that I won’t here. >.>

Anyhew! Got back to the East Coast to find two of the kittens crawling around with Mimi. Amy’s kitten was sleeping the entire time >.> Got into my new room, and found the bottle of sand my boss got for me in Cancun, and that reminded me to email him for work schedule. Now, I’m still watching the black kitten sleep on my bag of slippers…

There were still so many people I did not get to see. :( But hopefully that will change when I go back…during Christmas break…=_=

Excited that I’ll be able to see Ricky when he finishes his bike ride out from CA to Boston in about a week! :D

And I’ll be running around tutoring again! My newest student? A recently admitted MIT Sloan School of Management guy. Guess who is feeling epically unqualified but is going to do it anyways? :P

OH! And…as surprising as it may sound, I still keep in touch with this waiter I met while I was in Beijing last summer. I met him in the hu tongs after everyone left, and he as figured out that his next goal in life is to become a teacher. :) So I’ve been teaching him as much English as he can handle~ Hahaha!

And I still keep in touch with kou yu lao shi~ :) I’ve been helping him look for jobs in the states, without much luck until I met up with my Chinese professor from UCSD~ And while kou yu lao shi isn’t headed straight for the states, he has a chance to teach in Costa Rica! So cool~ :D I think I’d even go visit him there~

Speaking of visiting people, planning to go to France in March to visit Hyo and Daxin! :D I want to see the world!~ Also need to find a time to go to Taiwan And Korea to visit Heddy and Jake~ :D
